Sunday's Coming (December 27)

We're now in the Christmas season proper! No more waiting and so our worship will be a Christmas celebration.

Nate Conrad will be preaching on Jesus and His Dad from Luke 2:39-52. A good reminder that Jesus didn't stay a baby in a manger. Rather …

… the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him. (Luke 2:40, NIV)

Perhaps you may wish to read the "in between" passages (Luke 2:21-38 and Matthew 2:1-23) which move us from the Christmas story to Nate's text for Sunday.

Sunday's Coming (December 20)

This coming Sunday is the fourth and final week in our Advent journey. To open our time in worship together, we continue with our songs of the season, Come Lord Jesus (An Advent Song) and O Holy Spirit, and will also sing the favorite The Glorious Impossible. We will conclude our journey through the 8 Heidelberg Catechism questions on the Son of God.

Chris will be preaching on An Unexpected Christmas from Luke 2:8-20.

Our service will culminate in a celebration led by the worship team, choir and orchestra as the choir and orchestra minister to us in song with O Little Town of Bethlehem and we then join in singing O Come, All Ye Faithful; Hark! the Herald Angels Sing; Angels from the Realms of Glory and Go, Tell It on the Mountain. We conclude the day as we lift our voices in praise with Chris Tomin's Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy).

Sunday's Coming (December 13)

This coming Sunday is the third week in our Advent journey. We continue with our songs of the season: Come Lord Jesus (An Advent Song), Savior of the Nations Come, O Holy Spirit and God Is with Us.

Chris will be continuing his message series in the book of Ephesians. This Sunday he'll be preaching If Only You Knew the Greatness of the Gift from Ephesians 3:14-21.

We will be celebrating the Lord's Supper. I especially invite you to note the movement we will take in our communion songs. We will sing Prepare a Place, a song about waiting, particularly appropriate as we prepare to come to the Table. Then during communion we will move from O Come, O Come, Emmanuel [also a song about waiting, but waiting for the coming Messiah] to What Child Is This? [which is song about the wait being over, for the Messiah has come] to Joy to the World [which speaks of the destiny of this child, the ultimate Kingship of our Lord Emmanuel].

Come expectant! For God IS with us!

Sunday's Coming (December 6)

This coming Sunday is the second week in our Advent journey. As we continue to focus on The Coming Word, we will spend some time resting in and reflecting on John 1:1-14. We may wish to read the text before Sunday and refamiliarize ourselves with this well-known-but-still-powerful passage.

We'll repeat the new song, Come Lord Jesus (An Adent Song) and add two more new songs for the season with Savior of the Nations, Come and God Is with Us.

Chris will be continuing his message series in the book of Ephesians. This Sunday he'll be preaching Go Tell It on the Mountain from Ephesians 3:7-13.

I'm looking forward to our gathering in worship during this season of waiting and listening.
