Lectio Divina (Spiritual Reading)

The first week of bible study has come and gone. It was nice to reconnect with many of you and meet new friends! I wanted to share you a wonderful resource compliments of Keith Sherer to encourage you to create space for God: www. moravian.org then click on Daily Texts, enter in your email and you will receive daily emails with scripture from the Old Testament, New Testament and the Psalms. Keith encouraged us not only to read scripture, but to meditate on it by examining each point withthoroughly, and praying through it humbly.

There is still time to join any study, or drop by the Thursday morning January Term which is an enriching and encouraging time in learning different ways to connect with God through scripture.

2009, A New Year and A New Time To Continue Our Journey Together

I don't know if you are feeling the great saddness that sets in for me after the excitement of the Holiday Break. I tend to mourn the unstructured time and flurry of activity that comes from the kids being home with hords of children running in and out of my home bringing in the slush and mud from sledding or commitments to entertain family members that come in for the Christmas visit. I get so focused on the doing and on the decorations. Focused on trying to make sure my children love Christmas for the Gift of our Savior and not the gift they got and then on getting my home back to normal before the day to day sets in. New Years Resoultions, ha, I never make it past the first week so I don't even bother anymore! On Monday, all the kids were gone and Keith was working in his office, so I had some time to reflect on the past few weeks. Had I been faithful in reading scripture besides the Prophesy Boxes for the kids? Did I really spend time in prayer and take the time to listen for God? Was my heart song praising my God for all that was going on in my life, the good and the bad?  . . . . . . . . My answer:  No.   Ouch! Really? Could I rationalize some of the little things like Prophesy Boxes (they are little boxes with scripture of the prophesy of Christ from the OT and then a scripture of the fulfillment from the NT)?  The answer again was no.

What kind of Christian was I? I felt like a failure, but then again God was working in my soul. I would not have even felt bad if it were not the Holy Spirit quietly speaking to my heart that this quite moment was exactly what God had planned for me. He showed me that I cannot walk the christian journey of faith alone. As I listened to the Lord he moved me to see that I am not going to get it right all the time and if I did (or think I do), then Christ would have died for nothing. I need Him, I need the Trinity, I need to be in scripture and have my fellowship to encourage me. I recognize the need for my fellowship to intercede on my behalf when I am lost. 1 Timothy Chapter 2 is a perfect example of what God had planned for me that day. After a roller coaster of emotions I began to look toward the next thing God is preparing, not just for me, but all of you as well!

I am excited to get back to Women's Bible Study, not just for the community, but the January Term is holding me in anticipation for learning and encouragement. The "J" Term on Thursday mornings has 4 guest teachers that will guide us through different wasy to approach Scripture and our time with God. Journey Through Scripture; New Testament Introduction

Women's Ministries goal is to create a community of women who "Love the Lord" ( Deut 6:5 ). One way we accomplish this is reading, listening a praying through Scripture. We have chosen to focus on a Journey through the Bible to here God's Word spoken to us. As a ministry, we would like to offer different opportunities for you to grow in Scripture even if there are conflicts with scheduling, family obligations and travel. We hope this site will be a resource for you to grow on your own or in a study with others. Our desire is for you to join in community with others as you study the Gospel of Christ.
