Feed My Starving Children

Did you know that over 16,000 children die each day from starvation?   Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is committed to feeding God's starving children hungry in body and spirit. Their approach is simple: Volunteers pack nutritious meals made up of rice, soy, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables, and FMSC partners with Christian relief organizations worldwide to distribute these meals to starving children.

FMSC is a Christian organization with a vision to reduce the number of starving children throughout the world by helping to instill compassion in a generation that hears and responds to the cries of those in need.

Naperville Presbyterian Church is pleased to partner with Feed My Starving Children by inviting you to pack with us at the FMSC packing center near the Fox Valley Mall where you can help assemble and pack meals for starving children. We need volunteers who are 3rd grade and above to pack food.  This is a great family event.  Signup yourself and family below.

Share the Hope Clinic is a one day free medical clinic and so much more...

The goal of the clinic is to provide medical, spiritual and other services to those in need in our immediate area – we call it community care in Christ’s name.

The clinic is part of Share the Hope, the mission’s ministry of Crossroads Community Church. The format is based on a model designed by Touched Twice United. Touched Twice United is a Christ-centered, faith-based organization that strives to bring healing and peace to the community. They act as a catalyst, mobilizing volunteers from local churches to host free clinics that strive to meet the medical, spiritual, and physical needs of their guests.

Northern IL Food Bank

At NPC we support myriad ministries in the Chicagoland area. One of the ministries is the Northern IL Food Bank. The next time we are heading to the facility is June 5. Feed My Starving Children

We are supporting Feed My Starving Children on Wednesday, May 26 at 6:20 pm.

Rebuild Together | Aurora

A ministry that we support is the Rebuilding Together Aurora (RTA) project that occurs each spring. Like many volunteer organizations RTA is being hit hard by the down turn in the economy.  To off set loses the RTA team is sponsoring a fund raising concert that will occur March 20.

Haiti Mission Team Support

This February, NPC has a group of people willing to travel and serve in Haiti.  On our last trip to Haiti, our medical team was able to treat over 900 children.  We have been asked to expand our ministry on this next trip to include adults!

Would your Small Group be willing to join in and help collect some specific supplies (see below) that our travelers will need to have?  We are praying for 6 small groups to partner with us.

Feed My Starving Children

November 5, 2009 we are hoping dozens of NPC small groups will join one another to help package food with FMSC in Aurora. This is a very simple, easy way that men, women and families can serve side by side. Click here for more information.

Purchase and Pack Gifts for Children in Haiti

This information sheet describes our work as a presbytery to provide gifts for kids in Haiti. If your group would be willing, it can provide dozens of gifts for kids who will otherwise not receive any. This mission opportunity supports a ministry already on the ground in Haiti which seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children. Please email npcdeaconjoe@gmail.com to sign up to help.

Serve at the HSM/MSM Thanksgiving Dinner

High School Ministries and Middle School Ministries are looking for one small group to shop, set up, cook, and clean up after. NPC will provide the turkey, sliced and ready to heat up, small group members can do the rest.  Set up is a couple tables from the back hall for serving, the kids eat on the floor or in chairs. Total time commitment would be about 3 hours, 3:30 to 6:30, and dinner included! The dinner is November 22 from 5-6 pm. Please email traceybouton@npchurch.org

Volunteer Opportunity

NPC is looking for a few volunteers to help with the kitchen ministry at the church. The desire is to keep the kitchen tidy and manageable for the rest of the church and its various ministries.

Here's the requirement for the team:

You (and a partner) would volunteer for 2 months out of the year to come into church once a week.  We anticipate that it will take about an hour each week to do the following:  run the dishwasher (if necessary), wipe down all the counters/stovetops/sinks, put away anything that's out, throw out old food in the fridge and restock the paper/plastic products.

Spring Clean-up!

Saturday, April 18, from 9-noon we are going to have a “Spruce-Up” morning for NPC.  There will teams working outside (weather permitting) and inside to do some deep cleaning and take care of things that the janitorial team just does not have time to get to on a regular basis.

Can you come give a hand to your church home for 3 hours or any part there of? Tasks will include things like:

Outside:    

• Cleaning beds
• Trimming brush
• Cutting down a couple small trees
• Washing windows
• Raking leaves

Inside:

• Washing interior and exterior windows
• washing marks off walls
• Dusting trim and “high places”
• Possibly spot cleaning some carpets
• Etc., etc., etc.,

If you have noticed anything that needs to be done, you are welcome to come at that time and tackle a project of your choice.

We are sorry, but THERE WILL BE NO BABYSITTING OR CHILDCARE PROVIDED.  If your children are old enough to work and you would like them to work BESIDE YOU, they are more than welcome to come.

Recently, we had the joy of welcoming Michael and Tess Langer to NPC. NPC has partnered with the Langers and other ministers in Iowa during the floods of 2008.
