The church office, (630) 961-0579, often gets calls for babysitters to help small groups out. These sitters can help execute mission projects, have studies, or just to help the church members find young men and women that can help out in the home.

Diaconal Support

Small Group Leader: As we begin the year, it is helpful to remind you of the availability of the deacons to support members and attendees of Naperville Presbyterian. There may be men, women or families who could use the financial and spiritual support that comes from our diaconate.

If you have individuals or families that are requesting support from your group, the church, or have no idea where to turn, please contact our current deacon chairman, David McChristian. He can help arrange the care and resources that are needed to minister to those at NPC.

Share the Hope Clinic is a one day free medical clinic and so much more...

The goal of the clinic is to provide medical, spiritual and other services to those in need in our immediate area – we call it community care in Christ’s name.

The clinic is part of Share the Hope, the mission’s ministry of Crossroads Community Church. The format is based on a model designed by Touched Twice United. Touched Twice United is a Christ-centered, faith-based organization that strives to bring healing and peace to the community. They act as a catalyst, mobilizing volunteers from local churches to host free clinics that strive to meet the medical, spiritual, and physical needs of their guests.

Ways to Serve

From Lynne Flaugher in the church office: One of the greatest joys of being a Gospel centered church is to be able to show hospitality to others. We will be having such an opportunity on October 8-10 as students from Covenant Theological Seminary once again visit NPC and the Chicago area for a church planting workshop. We have hosted them in the past and have heard many stories about how important this trip has been in the lives of the young men and women who have come.
 
Final numbers are not yet available, but past trips have included 50 students, so I am looking for 20-30 host homes, assuming many can accommodate two guests. Would you be willing to host students from the group? As a host you will be asked to provide lodging on Friday and Saturday nights, (October 8 & 9), as well as feed the students breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. In addition to offering food and lodging, we would also like to see if you would be willing to pick the students up at NPC on Friday night and bring them back here on Saturday and Sunday mornings. If you can’t offer to provide transportation but are willing to host, we would have spots for people who serve as hosts only.

Haitian Christmas Project

Update on the Haitian Christmas Project:

We have the information on the children and the process for purchasing gifts. If you are interested in taking part in this ministry opportunity, purchasing and wrapping the gifts for these Haitian children, please email Nate Conrad at the church office, thank you!

Update: all the needs that we have agreed to fund through NPC have been met! What an overwhelming response from our small group ministry, thank you so much! We are looking to secure more funding for the project, if we are able to secure funding for more children we will need more small groups. Please watch here for more information!

Seasonal Volunteer Opportunities

This coming season there are several ways to help serve the church and our ministry partners. Consider one of the opportunities below as a way your small group can step into service this fall:

Feed My Starving Children

November 5, 2009 we are hoping dozens of NPC small groups will join one another to help package food with FMSC in Aurora. This is a very simple, easy way that men, women and families can serve side by side. Click here for more information.

Purchase and Pack Gifts for Children in Haiti

This information sheet describes our work as a presbytery to provide gifts for kids in Haiti. If your group would be willing, it can provide dozens of gifts for kids who will otherwise not receive any. This mission opportunity supports a ministry already on the ground in Haiti which seeks to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children. Please email npcdeaconjoe@gmail.com to sign up to help.

Serve at the HSM/MSM Thanksgiving Dinner

High School Ministries and Middle School Ministries are looking for one small group to shop, set up, cook, and clean up after. NPC will provide the turkey, sliced and ready to heat up, small group members can do the rest.  Set up is a couple tables from the back hall for serving, the kids eat on the floor or in chairs. Total time commitment would be about 3 hours, 3:30 to 6:30, and dinner included! The dinner is November 22 from 5-6 pm. Please email traceybouton@npchurch.org

Jesus Weekend

A weekend of training, encouragement and spiritual nourishment... Whether you are a brand new Christian or a pastor, you will encounter The Person of Jesus like never before.

On Friday evening, as you study the gospels, you’ll discover your heart being captured by the beauty of Jesus. A pastor said, “The interactive study of the life of Jesus made Him come alive in a way I have rarely seen or heard.” A pastor’s wife wrote, “I am embarrassed (and sad) that I’ve overlooked seeing Him as a person.”

On Saturday three different tracks expand your awareness of Jesus. The Person of Jesus track immerses you in what Jesus is like as a person and offers you the opportunity of learning how to teach interactively and reaching out to non-Christians.

A second track, Small Group Leader Training, gives participants hands on training in leading inductive Bible studies as it immerses participants in the Passion of Jesus or one other aspect of Jesus’ life.

Finally, we know how hard it is to sustain a consistent life of prayer. The PrayerLife track is designed for Christians who long to have a rich prayer life, but are frustrated by the busyness of life.

Career Concerns and Networking

Wednesday mornings NPC hosts a Bible Study for those (presently all men) who are currently between jobs. If you, or someone you know is in transition and might interested, please call the church office for more information.

Also, Alleluia Lutheran Church on Book Road in Naperville is hosting a career networking meeting Monday, March 16. If you are interested, or think there is someone in your group who could benefit from a time of connecting with others, please print this PDF and pass along.

This Sunday, January 4, from 10:00 - 10:40 am in Room 042 (middle room below the Worship Center) we are hosting a gathering for Adult Education teachers and Small Group leaders. We will have catered food, encouraging words, resources and ideas.

We are very thankful for our leaders at NPC and want to take some time to acknowledge your care and ministry to others in the church as a teacher or small group leader. To share our gratitude, we are hosting a gathering for fellowship, food, and encouragement; we hope that you will attend!

Childcare will be offered by reservation from 10:00 - 10:40 am in the following rooms, please call the church office to reserve a spot for your child:
